Project Spotlight
Our Environmental Construction Services (ECS) Division has been working on the West
Nassau Landfill Closure 1 Project in Callahan, Florida. The work area is roughly
33 acres and will be the final closure for this particular landfill. In general,
COMANCO is being contracted to Strip, Excavate, and Grade the Closure Area and cover
the slopes and top of the landfill with a layer of Leveling Soil, 50 mil Geomembrane,
8 oz/sy Non-Woven Geotextile, Protective Cover, Topsoil, and Sod. In addition COMANCO
will be installing a system of drainage media including terrace and toe drains,
down channels, underdrain piping, and grout filled fabric revetments, as well as
replacing 8 gas vents and relocating pipe channels in the gas conveyance/condensate
system.
